Our History
Bear Lane Guide Service, led by Master Guide Frank Perkowsky, has been a prominent outfitter in Maine since 1970. Frank began his black bear hunting journey in the Patten area of Maine and later expanded his expertise to the Wesley region. Over the years, Bear Lane Guide Service has specialized in black bear hunting using both bait and hounds. Our operations are based in Wesley, Maine, where we offer comprehensive hunting packages that include lodging and meals. The service has built a reputation for providing authentic and memorable hunting experiences, attracting hunters from various regions.

What is Your Success Ratio?
Bear Lane Guide Service really focuses on giving hunters the best possible chance by making sure they’re set up for success, especially with the bait site cameras and understanding how a hunter’s scent can affect bear behavior. The advice about controlling noise and movement is key, as bears are incredibly sensitive to that kind of disruption.
The hunting season typically runs from the last Monday in August through the third week in September.
Requirements & Pricing
*You must have a hunting license from the previous year or Hunter Education Certificate. You must obtain a Bear Hunt Permit with your license to hunt during the fall bear season.*
The cost of the bear hunt is $2,850.00 for bait hunt and $3,600.00 for bear hunt with hounds, license not included. Included in the price is: meals, lodging, transportation to and from the stands, skinning and tree stands. $1,000.00 non-refundable deposit is required. The balance is due in cash upon arrival. Once your deposit is received a list of items you need to bring and directions to the cabins will be sent to you. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call.

At Bear Lane Guide Service, the accommodations are designed for comfort and convenience during your hunting trip. Here's what you can expect:
- Cabins: The lodge features well-equipped cabins that include essential amenities like heaters, showers, toilets, and sinks, ensuring a comfortable stay even in the wilderness.
- Meals: The dining hall is located next to the cabins, and it provides full breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You won’t have to worry about cooking during your stay — meals are prepared for you.
- Hunt Package: The typical hunt package includes five days of hunting and six nights of lodging. This gives you a solid amount of time to enjoy the experience and try for a successful hunt.
